A custom B2B experience using the Shopify Platform for Designers’ Collection

Designers' Collection is a well-established custom furniture B2B supplier, collaborating with design experts to craft bespoke pieces for numerous prestigious residences and businesses throughout New Zealand. To reflect and support their beautiful custom furniture pieces, they sought a refreshed interface design and an improved ‘user experience’ site, to take their designer clients step by step through their customer journey.
The new site also needed a B2B portal login function so only authenticated designers could view product pricing and send quote enquiries.
Alongside a full site renovation, Designers’ Collection also took the opportunity to refresh their branding and end-to-end messaging across their digital platforms.
To thoroughly understand the client’s new brand, vision and digital direction, we held ideation workshops to identify the project requirements, scope, current business systems, existing pain-points and to identify a wish list of features and functionality. This process ensured that our recommended solution and future roadmap of enhancements would meet all their online business objectives.
Our detailed analysis process identified the need to firstly establish comprehensive brand guidelines for the user interface and order-journey experience. After all the technical requirements were assessed, we identified and recommended that the Shopify eCommerce platform and its associated AppStore ecosystem would be the perfect solution for their current needs and for their future growth intentions.
A Shopify base-template was chosen as the site foundation and we customised and improved it to suit the brand identity, features and functional requirements.
The default ‘drag-and-drop' interface and Content Management System that Shopify offers, makes it simple for the client to update content at any time. Additionally, we integrated a range of custom 3rd party applications and support systems that addressed user authentication and client certification for product viewing, price list access and ordering.
The new site design and user experience has received positive feedback from the client and their business customers, with many users enjoying and using the new ‘quote-request’ function.
Designers’ Collection are looking to continue the upward momentum of their digital channels, with a roadmap of future features planned, along with SEO and performance marketing activities.
