Love Taupō, formerly known as Destination Great Lake Taupō, recently created a new brand and position in market. Working closely with their brand agency, this project involved bringing an ambitiously strong visual identity to life in the design of the website.

The legacy site was largely led by Taupō tourism operator content, useful for planning a visit, however there was a need for inspirational content during the consideration stage of a visitor’s journey. A new content management system enables editors to tag and blend operator listings with articles and stories, resulting in a more immersive and rich, engaging experience. Tourism operator information is paced appropriately to each visitor’s journey and research needs.

Information architecture has been simplified and the navigation is now very clear: Discover, See & Do, Taste, Stay, Plan.

 

This is a site rich with visual content, so a major focus was placed on the image galleries. Back end integrations with Eventfinda and Tourism New Zealand were also built. User generated content is taken care of courtesy of the Crowdriff social aggregator, which has also been integrated.

Now, the Love Taupō website not only provides information, it also inspires the user, immersing them in the stories, images and experiences of this wonderful part of New Zealand.
