Not only tasked with the incredibly important function of promoting New Zealand as a destination to visit, Tourism New Zealand also plays the vital role of supporting New Zealand's tourism industry onshore.
The objective of this refreshed and responsive Tourism New Zealand corporate website was clear: to better serve tourism operators and the NZ domestic market, and to act as a resource to tourism operators, providing them with industry insights and market statistics.
Tourism New Zealand is a key industry resource and as such the website is content heavy, including news, marketing insights, tourism stats, event information, and online tools. Using the Umbraco CMS, our client was able to set up their content in a flexible way, keeping things friendly for their content administrators. The back end CMS solution provided to TNZ is intuitive and utilises the Umbraco rich text editor and back office system, providing major administration efficiencies.
The tourism industry is ever-changing, so operators need to keep up-to-date with new statistics and information to help them better engage with travellers and maximise their businesses opportunities. Tourism New Zealand reports on a large number of international visitor stats, behaviours, trends, events and news. Therefore, special consideration was given to data surfacing and visualisation. Graphs were designed in a comprehensive and meaningful way. More data visualsation phases are scheduled.
We used strong responsive design and development principles when building this website, with particular thought to how the content would surface on mobile and tablet screens. This has resulted in an intuitive mobile and tablet website experience that guides the user to the information they need - this website looks great no matter what device you are on.
