The Project:

Treepeople is a website created for Genesis Energy is to show how small lifestyle changes can have a real impact on the environment. Aimed primarily at school children, users plant a tree in a virtual forest, and then sign up for pledges to make small changes that effect the environment, such as turning off the lights in an empty room. As the user completes these pledges their tree grows, eventually becoming a giant in the virtual forest.

Incorporating aspects of social networking, online gaming, and educational resource sites, Treepeople is truly engaging - as evidenced by the almost 25,000 trees planted and 90,000 pledges completed within the first few months.

Terabyte was charged with developing the flash components for the website, allowing users to explore through the virtual forest on the homepage. We also assisted with the frontend development to help meet a very challenging deadline.
