Te Papa - Maori Showbands
The Project:
During the 1950’s a musical phenomenon emerged from the small Pacific nation of New Zealand. Blending elements from popular entertainment as well as traditional Maori culture, a generation of multi-talented singers and musicians developed a unique musical style that spread throughout the world. The Maori Showband was born and continued for over twenty years.
Taking the visitor on a journey from 50’s New Zealand through to the present day, The Maori Showbands site is an immersive experience, using video, audio, archive imagery and interactivity to tell the Showband stories. A fantastic amount of content was sourced from members of the bands, their recollections and photographs, and the end result was a uniquely New Zealand site – bilingual of course.
Built in Flash, with the content being served via XML, the site is available in both Maori and English, and was highly commended in the 2006 Best Design Awards in the Interactive Media & Website Design category.
Where traditional graphic design focuses on aesthetics and visual look, Interface Design focuses on how a user interacts with an object or application, and how to make that interaction as simple and efficient as possible.
Interface design is a huge part of what Terabyte do, and we have a wide range of experience in designing effective User Interfaces across various mediums (such as websites, software applications, and touchscreen kiosks) that help our client’s audiences to achieve their goals.
