Great team, took the essence of what we do, tried it and encapsulated the energy in our website platforms – Scott Bason, General Manager, Taupo Tourism

The Project:

Taupo Tourism Holdings selected us to inject some adrenaline into their websites in late 2009. With the launch of their new activity and brand Taupo Cliffhanger on the horizon, the Taupo Bungy crew were painfully aware that their web presence needed a revamp.

No supplier working with Taupo Tourism is allowed to start work until they have "experienced the activities we have on offer" in the words of Scott Bason, General Manager for Taupo Tourism Holdings. Trembling at the knees, a crew representative of Terabyte's finest made their way to Taupo and Taihape for two days of bungy jumping, swinging, and a 160km/hr flying fox ride!

The whole crew managed the Flying Fox and 50m free-fall swing, with front-end developer, Hamish, kissing solid ground on his return. After an honest (but failed!) attempt from our MD Doug, only Project Manager Anthea and Creative Director Steve (in tandem with his wife Elysia) had the guts to jump - to much respect and admiration from the TeraTeam back home in Auckland.

With the rush of wind still ringing in his ears, Steve nailed the concept design for the projects and the team formulated a clever solution for a framework of a website to be shared across the Taupo Bungy, Taupo Cliffhanger, and Gravity Canyon.

The key objective for the Taupo Bungy site was to excite visitors nationally and internationally and turn that enthusiasm into bookings. Our job was to thrill and inspire visitors by breaking out of the box with our design, and enabling visitors to discover content about the fantastic experiences our client had to offer.

Having tasted these thrills first hand, combined with the TeraTeam's expertise in information design, visual design, and of course ASP.net development and Umbraco CMS integration, the end solution is everything Taupo Tourism desired and more. With YouTube integration, image galleries, and a section to meet the fantastic Taupo Bungy Crew, and to find your own jump pictures, the new website firmly places these Adventure Experts at the top of their game online.
