The Project:
The core concept for the PNCC website was to provide both a
one-stop point of contact and information repository for Palmerston
North residents, and to promote the area to tourists and businesses
considering moving there.
The website covers a huge amount of ground, providing users with
hundreds of articles containing topics like living and working in
Palmerston North, Council activities, events, the community, and
much more. A standout feature is the A-Z service browser, allowing
users to quickly find information on services the council
provides - from 'Abandonded vehicles' to 'Wastewater'
(nothing under 'Z' as yet ;)
The rebuilt website met with instant success, generating very
positive feedback from its users. Even better - just one month
after being released, it won Best Redevelopment Website (People's
Choice) at the national ALGIM (Association of Local Government
Information Management) Web Awards.
UPDATE - 2009 saw the release of the next
