The Project:
We won the original New Zealand Parliament website design and
development project in late 2004 with it going live on 24th August
2006 (a date etched in my memory as I project managed it personally
- Doug Hanna, CEO).
The website is the on-line publishing mechanism for all official
Parliamentary information and it is critical that it is reliable,
efficient and supports timely publishing of critical documents.
Hundreds of documents are published every sitting week and in 2011
the website held over 300,000 pages.
Since go-live in 2006 we have provided 3rd level technical
support services to NZ Parliament, supporting their internal IT
help desk in the maintenance and support of the website.
Over this time we have also completed many changes and
enhancements to the website and intranet, with the following being
some of the new functionality introduced:
- Publishing of Hansard, automatically breaking it up into
Question time, Debates and Speeches.
- Support for Parliament TV Live
Streaming
- Intranet access to Video related to Hansard documents
- Email alerts system with
personalised search criteria
- SimpleXML support for document publishing
- Intranet TV video search and retrieval system
- Intranet Venue and Events Booking System
- Code upgrades to support new versions of the Microsoft.Net
framework
- Home page redesign
- eCommittee on-line submissions capture and transport
sub-system
- Intranet home page redesign and IA changes
- Intranet audience group security
- Google Search Appliance integration (replacing the in-build
Microsoft SQL search engine with Google search hardware for
site-wide search)
We are proud of our history of support since 2006 for this very
significant New Zealand institution.
