The Project:
When HSBC, one of the world's largest banks, agreed to sponsor
New Zealand skipper Graham Dalton and his boat Hexagon in the
2002-3 Around Alone yacht race, the focus of its sponsorship effort
was to promote education and the environment.
With the project being sponsored out of HSBC's head office in
London, Terabyte went head to head with a number of international
agencies in a competitive pitch. Not only did we win the right to
complete the work, this site went on to be voted as one of Yahoo's
Top 12 sites for 2002
Specifically designed for children aged 9-12 years, HSBC's Global
Education Challenge is a website wonderland, spilling over with
lively characters and entertaining activities. Vibrant and
colourful, the site exudes an energy that encourages kids to have
fun while learning. Testimony to the site's success is that in just
four months, more than 12,000 children worldwide had registered on
the site and were logging on to www.education.hsbc.com to complete
the weekly challenges set by the skippers of the Around Alone
race.
