The Project:
Hirepool is the main New Zealand trading organisation within the
New Zealand Retail Group (NZRG), specialising in hire and rental of
a range of equipment and services.
Within the Hirepool brand are several specific divisions and
brands addressing Services and Equipment, Access Hire, Barricading
Hire, Energy and Pumps, Event Management, Marquees, Party Hire,
Portaloos and Vehicles.
Hirepool had an existing web capability which was developed some
years ago and which has been added to in the form of additional
sub-sites and brands as a series of mergers and acquisitions had
been completed. As a result their old sites suffered from a
lack of consistency of brand, look and feel and functionality.
Terabyte was engaged in a Discovery phase and created the design
of the new website, with Propellerhead responsible
for the development of the website on the Kentico Content Management System (CMS).
The Hirepool audience is diverse, ranging over large
construction companies, small construction companies, one man
operators, sub-contractors, DIY'ers, and the general public.
Terabyte developed personas with the Hirepool team looking at their
persona's motivations, top 5 tasks, feature needs, and
barriers. These personas were always kept front of mind as we
worked through the content mapping workshops.
Hirepool also recognised the value of providing access to
customers on mobile phones and key functionality has been designed
for mobile through the Mobile Website. Keeping it
simple with the customer's top tasks in mind, five screens were
designed to provide a mobile experience for those people out and
about on construction sites, or the weekend warrior looking for
their nearest Hirepool branch. Those screens being - a Hirepool
Landing page with quick access to locate a branch by region,
Contact Us form, Branch Details with Google map directions, and a
Product Search - listing products and key product
information.
The new site creates a fresh and simple user experience which
assists Hirepool to attract customers to their entire range of
services across divisions. The website's key objectives are
to:
- increase Hirepool's customer base in turn increasing
bookings, enquiries, and foot flow;
- communicating who Hirepool are, what they do, and ensuring
brand perception; and
- communicate points of difference, ease of engagement, and "hire
the experience" / we have the full solution.
