The Project:
Bringing a successful real-world publication online is a
challenging task - existing content is continually updated, and new
content is regularly added, often by many contributors. We knew
therefore that findability and intuitive navigation were very
important to the success of the site, and it would succeed or fail
on its ease of use. The graphical aesthetic established in the
magazine also needed to be brought online, so we worked to adapt
the strong visual and typographic identity to work on the web.
In addition to supporting the content of the magazine, the HFM
website expands on it, adding great features like an ever-growing
database of healthy recipes, searchable by their main ingredients,
what occasions they are suited to, and even abstract but very
helpful topics such as '5pm panic!' and 'kids can cook'. Other
handy tools include a BMI calculator, pantry
checklists, and even a fish buyers guide.
The resulting site perfectly complements the magazine, and users
have no excuses for not eating well!
