The Project:
Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism selected Terabyte to
rejuvenate their tourism website.
Two major audience types had to be considered; potential
incoming international and national travellers and companies from
around the world looking for a conference destination.
Another challenge was providing a content managed accommodation
and activities section and a content managed conventions section
that their tourism operators could maintain themselves. This
resulted in effectively two websites in one content managed
system.
Turning potential customers into firm bookings meant integrating
with two major booking engines and linking to another two to
support tourism operators on-line bookings.
To help users we utilised the Google map API and developed an
integrated map to provide an engaging filtered view of
accommodation and activities using custom markers and custom
detail. Users can also add and delete items to and from their
trip planner then, when ready, book them on-line.
