Our Services
The Project:
Every now and again a special project comes along. One that
makes you feel good about what you do and one that will hopefully
make a real difference. Chalkbytes is one of those projects and one
which we are really excited about.
Chalkbytes is a not for profit organisation located in Belfast,
Northern Ireland. In partnership with Queen's University in Belfast
and Invest Northern Ireland they formulated a plan to get children
from around the world collaborating on a wide range of projects.
The goal is simply to break down barriers, whether cultural, racial
or religious and get kids talking to each other about the things
they have in common.
The Chalkbytes site is a Learning Content Management System (LCMS)
largely administrated by Teachers who can create classes and
lessons in a safe and secure on-line environment. Lessons are
created in Interactive Learning Zones the first of which to launch
will be the Underwater Zone. They can then share lessons and
encourage collaboration between their students and other classes
around the world.
The LCMS is based on Terabyte's Dynamic Web with an all new user
interface allowing lessons to be created very simply using as much
or as little multimedia content as the teacher is comfortable with.
Lessons can include video, audio even Flash animations to ensure a
completely immersive and engaging experience for children.
Initially targeted at 9-11 year olds the Chalkbytes project
draws on Terabyte's considerable experience developing interactive
edutainment software and websites.
