The Project:
When Tourism Holding's (THL) main website designer had to return
to the UK due to a family illness, THL called upon Terabyte to
complete the front end design work for two of their websites.
Two of our Art Directors worked closely with THL's IT and
products teams to develop the site template wireframes, design
website concepts and the full suite of website templates.
THL's IT team took these design outputs and worked with their
suppliers on the considerable development and integration work to
complete what are reasonably ground breaking projects.
In addition to being a full e-commerce solution where customers
can search and compare alternative rental vehicles, highlights of
the Backpacker website were the creative use of the Google Map API
to deliver a very functional route planner for their customers.
Working with one of THL's in-house developers familiar with the
Google API, we designed the interactive map/itinerary interface so
that customers can conduct detailed planning of their trip.
The integration includes the ability to locate camping
grounds, scenic highlights, interesting activities as well as
Backpacker rental branches. Once a trip is planned it can be
printed or emailed for reference.
